Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Even though I've only had type 1 diabetes for a month my mental health has dramatically lowered and it's been harder to stay positive about the subject. I feel more panicky when I take my injections even though I'm used to taking them. Any advice to stay optimistic?

A few strategies that might help:
Take things one day at a time, or even one test / one injection / one meal at at time.
As you're probably still in honeymoon phase, your pancreas is probably still producing some insulin, at random intervals, making control more difficult than when it gives up completely. So, be gentle on yourself, rather than striving fir perfection.
Concentrate on doing the things that really matter to you and bring you joy. Especially if that involves physical activity and / or good food / drink, with good company. Avoid people who make you feel down or awkward.
Plan a treat for the near future eg a day out. Plan new experiences. Eg have you ever done a parkrun? Free 5km timed runs / jogs / walks in parks / open spaces / coastal areas at 9am (England and Wales) or 9.30am (Northern Ireland and Scotland) every Saturday morning (unless there's another event, festival, race etc in the park). Check www.parkrun.org.uk for your nearest, then make sure you arrive about 10 minutes early, so you can hear the newbies' briefing (if there is one) or just ask anyone if they're a regular runner / walker / volunteer, for information.

Hello and welcome 🙂
I suffer with anxiety and am waiting to be referred to psychologist within the Diabetes team at my local hospital, perhaps ask your DSN if this service is available at your hospital too. Good luck x

You could also check out your local IAPT service for your area ! Just google IAPT and your area !
