Diabetes and medical care survey

The reason people seem 'touchy' about 'Type' is because things like the CCG telling you that just because you've had your whole pancreas removed (eg cancer or whatever reason) doesn't make you entitled to the same things as us sainted auto immune Type 1s happen to be. Eg Susan couldn't possibly be entitled to have all that money for an insulin pump spent on her when she wasn't a real Type 1. Good grief - hasn't the NHS spent enough money already operating on her and prescribed substances to enable her to live - how much more help does she expect?

She's had to fight so hard to get what she NEEDS to have to stay alive - involving her MP and all sorts!

Her type of diabetes has now been classified as Type 3 - there wasn't such a category for her type before because the people it affected all died very nasty deaths instead, so it wasn't necessary. That's a shocking position to find yourself in, isn't it ? We don't know what type to call you Mr/Mrs Bloggs cos we haven't saved anyone's life for this long before .....

It's a bit like all the gutter press that all T2s including all the dead skinny ones shouldn't have 'done this to themselves in the first place cos whatever anyone tells me to the contrary - I'd rather believe that' - but WORSE !

Hello everyone!
It's Goher here - I'm the person behind the survey which you have very kindly contributed to. Thank you very much indeed for your time to do this - it means a lot to me personally as I'm doing this as a patient volunteer. I'm hoping to get lots of responses so I can best represent what we, as people with diabetes, think in my presentation to the healthcare professionals at the meeting. I wanted to also apologise for not specifying type 3 diabetes; I'm afraid I grouped the rarer forms of diabetes under "other" without realising this may cause offence. I would not wish anyone to feel excluded. I hope you felt you could put across what was important to you despite this. I would be very happy to share the outcomes with you all - I will check with the DUK team how best to do this.
Thank you again for all your support - I only hope I can represent just as well! Very best to you all, Goher
I'm not offended, just frustrated! Type 3 needs to be much more widely known about and the fact that there are more than 2 types of diabetes.
