does any one know if it is common for those with diabetes to be prone to fungal infections. seems mine has come back again which has freaked me.

it was detected this Monday during my diabetes review but since got worse so waiting for a doctors call back.

There’s a correlation. Like yeast in baking fungi in our personal eco system have to feed on something and that something is usually sugar.
Add in that we’re hyper sensitive to blood glucose changes and it’s no wonder that people living with diabetes can also experience the most impressive fungal infections from time to time.

Hopefully yours will be easy to treat.

Fungal infections aren’t any commoner in diabetes, but can be harder to get rid of because of the excess sugar around. Yeasts love it.

They tend to recur because you should always continue treatment for a week after the infection disappears, unlike bacterial infections.

There are around 20 different fungi that live on our skin and in our bowels, and it’s usually one of our commensal fungal pals that cause infections. We are a war zone, with the fungi suppressing bacterIa on the skin, and sometimes the balance of power changes.

i have now been prescribed a cream to deal with the fungal problem not Canesten and it is a 2 week course just hope this time it knocks the thing out. Mike would i be right with it been 2 week course that the first week it should get rid of the fungal then the second week it makes sure that it clears the thing up completely? as when i was on capsule form that was also for 2 weeks.
