HI all,
I have Crohn's disease along with diabetes Type 2 and I know about carbs and white bread, pasta etc, but when I'm in a flare or have one just starting up I need to do what's called a low residue diet meaning I cant have raw vegetables, too much roughage and certain fruits etc. because of this it doesn't leave me a lot to eat and unfortunately white carbs are recommended, any suggestions would be appreciated.

thank you
Karen

Could you have meat, fish, cheese, eggs, etc @Kazzy65 ? Are you on any meds for the diabetes?
Hi Inka,
Yes I can eat fish and chicken, eggs, tofu and cheese, yes I'm on Metformin, it's difficult to fill up with such a limited diet when in flare, if i don't have any carbs.

Is all veg out for you during a flare @Kazzy65 ? I’m thinking about peeled, cooked, mashed less fibrous veg?

I know what people tell people with Type 2 diabetes, but a carbohydrate is a carbohydrate and as far as blood glucose is concern it doesn't give a toss what colour it is or whether it's a spud or a spoonful of rice or the middle pulled straight out of a newly baked crusty loaf. Of course - our own guts however, certainly do know and differentiate, with or without any identifiable medical condition affecting them.

So consume white carbs when the Crohns demands them!

I do eat cooked veg, but once again it’s root veg that’s the safest and I do mash them at times. I was just wondering if there was anything I haven’t thought of, but thank you
