Desperately seeking great Diabetes team??

Hi all
I’m after any advise from anyone who feels they have a great diabetes team / consultant!
I’ve been type 1 D for 24 years and over the last 5 years plus my care at Chace farm hospital trust has declined so dramatically that I feel very alone and worried about my future health.
I’m never suggested new products - I have to approach and beg them - my consultant appointments are cancelled regularly. And recently even when I call with bee symptoms that worry me / I don’t get a call bavk unless to tell me to call go instead!!

im north London based so happy to travel to central London - anyone receiving great care from a central London hospital I found ask to be moved to??

Could your GP surgery suggest anywhere else you could go? If you got some ideas, you could Google and do some research.

I hope you find somewhere good. It makes all the difference to have a supportive team.

My GP has been tricky to see during lockdown as they only have locums to respond to non urgent matters. My main problem is Diabetic team like to hand ball my worries about complications I’m experiencing bavk to Gp then the Gp insists it’s a diabetic teams problem! Like the weird feelings in my legs since December!! I think it’s neuropathy- diabetes team say cardio vascular!! No one wants to know!

That must be really worrying and frustrating for you. Has anyone at all examined your legs? Are the nurses at your GP surgery doing appointments? Have you had a recent foot check?

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time with your healthcare professionals @ShelleyWeyman - it has certainly been very difficult over the last year or so, with so many resources being diverted to the pandemic, and many routine appointments, checks and clinics being impossible to run

It might be worth calling the Diabetes UK helpline? (the number is at the top of the page) who can talk through things with you.

I’m not sure how many hospitals allow you to self-refer to switch your care, but I would imagine you could call the department and ask, or check their website?
