When I did Desmon last year it was OK. Gave some background. Rusty locks (insulin resistance). I consider it an introduction.
Good for you Ralph...I found it took me back to my initial diagnosis when I had no idea what to do...and if I followed the advice given today...god knows what my BG levels would be...so disappointing...

Well, when I did the course I knew nothing and had no idea what to do. Now I'd be asking questions and getting into all sorts of stuff.
Desmond is only a start and is no help with food.
So many on here have had to strougle like you, and when we eventually get anything it's something we should have had at the start, doesn't help build on what we know.

Have you done it all? Some do the two half's on separate days

Ralph...it is not just for beginners...DESMOND is for new and ongoing diabetes...hence the acronym DESMOND Diabetes Education and Self Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed...there is nothing from what I saw for ongoing diabetes...and the advice I heard was so dogmatic...not to test...eat pasta (spaghetti Bolognese)...we all have our own individual plan for management...suits some...doesn't suit others...but don't tell someone who is making great efforts to manage and control their diabetes their way of doing it is wrong...particularly if it is working for them.

Won't be doing anymore...the forum and what I read is the best education I have had...sticking with that.

Other thread didn't appear straight away for me, only just read it.
Yes, suppose to be Ongoing. No good at that.

Forum is being .... Errrm ... Not working smoothly lol

I suspect with all these things alot depends on the people delivering the courses!

I finds medical people in area next door to mine better. Though I haven't dealt with a gp practice.
