I found the switch from Combo to aMedtronic very stressful, even though they were similar. I did the switch in order to use HCL. I would never want to go back from that now.

You mention dealing with varying needs and I find my loop deals with that very nicely most of the time: adapting if I get my carbs wrong, changes in weather, or levels of gentle exercise.

I am due to change pump in December and have already decided to stay with the Medtronic system, especially with their new sensors with an integrated transmitter coming on stream.
