Hello everyone, I am type 2 diabetic & also have dawn phenomonom, where my blood sugar readings shoot up when I wake up. I am struggling to find an easy breakfast that doesn't make it even worse. Does anyone have experience of this & any suggestions? Thank you.

Quite a few people do get this and find a low carb breakfast helps. Full Fat Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds or nuts, eggs in any form, bacon, high meat content sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, cooked meat and cheese with may be 1 slice of toast or Ryvita type cracker.

I'm vegetarian so that also complicates things. I've tried full fat yogurt & berries but my bs still goes really high. I've found making egg & veg muffins help but hope there might be something else to try. Thank you for your suggestions.

Mushrooms and cheese, omelette with some veg in.
How high does your blood glucose go, what is it after 2 hours.

It's been as high as 17, depending on what I have, porridge is a big no no. I've even bought Yuka sugar free granola & that raises it too.

Sugar free doesn't mean it will be low carb, check the carbs in the nutritional information.
If you want a granola that is low carb then M & S grain free fruit and nut is only 8.2g arbs per 100g so even a normal portion would still be less than 4g carbs.
Testing before eating as well as 2 hours after would indicate if what you eat is OK or not.

I find egg mayo on tyvita quite filling and it barely affects my blood glucose.

Will have to try that Granola, I eat Ketohana granola at the moment which is a bit more expensive for a smaller bag though you can find it on sale quite a lot.

I have also had that as well, sometimes it is a good price on Amazon or H & B have had it at 3 for 2 price or buy one get one half price.
I did buy a cheaper one from Amazon but it wasn't very nice very powdery so I used together with almond flour and butter and extra seeds for crumble topping.

A couple of suggestions
- I find my DP is reduced by intensive exercise the day before
- I find my BG keeps rising after I get up until I eat. So eating as soon as I rise (it doesn't have to be very much) makes a big difference.
