Hi everyone, we're thinking about joining David Lloyd near Chester but can't see the prices anywhere. Has anyone got any tips or can anyone tell us how to get a discount on the fees for 2 adults and 2 kids... because I've heard that they're very high

We're at Nuffield at the moment and we get a discount with our life insurance so it's pretty cheap

Hello @danni1977 ,

Thank you for joining. In terms of memberships, I had a brief check online and included a link below, but it looks like you need to fill in a form after you pick what your priorities are in the gym. They will contact you once you fill out the form. Their is also a live chat you can ask them as well. Gym prices vary by location so you would need to reach out to them. I hope this helps!

We had a family membership a few years ago that was £90 each for 2 adults with various joining fees etc.

It does depend on the club as some have more/better facilities than others. I'd contact them and ask and then check for any available discounts.. once they have you on their radar you'll probbaly get lots of offers.. I still do even though we were only members for a year.

The Ellesmere Port one? I used to belong there, imo it very much depends on the age of your kids. When they are younger then you get very good value from the kids clubs (allowing adult exercise time/classes) but as mine got older and my work pattern changed we weren't going so often (and the pandemic didn't help with that too). I got about 10% discount for working in the NHS I think. Not sure what other discounts they have, I think forces, possibly some employers might have deals with them too.

Their clubroom is really nice, and there's an adult only section (with glass doors!) for if the kids are not with you, I used to use their holiday club and sometimes get there a bit early and sit in the adult bit to finish my work paperwork before collecting kids.

We discontinued membership because I didn't feel we were getting value from it any more (as you say, it is pricey). Tbh I continued it for longer than I might have otherwise because kids were having swimming lessons still and I liked the swimming instructors so wanted to keep them in the classes there until they could swim sufficiently well.
