Hi Dave, welcome to the forum 🙂 Did the doctor explain what led him to his theory? What was it that prompted you to have tests done, did you have possible symptoms? Type 1.5 is a slow-onset version of Type 1 diabetes, which is very distinct from Type 2 diabetes as even though it is slow-onset, it can progress much more quickly than Type 2. Do you know what tests have been ordered, and when you will hear the results?

Much will depend on how you have been feeling leading up to the potential diagnosis, and what sort of symptoms you have been experiencing e.g excessive thirst, going to the loo a lot, tiredness, especially after eating, low mood, feeling nauseous. These symptoms are likely to intensify if it is Type 1.5 and it's important to get help from healthcare professionals immediately if they become significantly worse. Did the doctor give you any medication or advice?

p.s. would you like your User name to be changed to Davegeorges? If so, I can do that for you 🙂

Yes please.I am currently attending a volunteering scheme with kings college.Denmark Hill for people who might be prediabetic.I have attended three times now.each time they take blood give me a sugary drink then take blood again.my first reading is always good.4.6.goes up to 11 but takes longer to down.results by Tuesday.

Not sure on the type of blood tests taken.but doctor at King's college doesn't think it is a problem now but in the future.she suggested I have regular tests done every 6months.I am currently being treated for labrythitis. Just wondering if symptons might be something else now I know I.might prediabetic.if.

The test you have described is a 'glucose tolerance test' - normally a reading over 11.0 at the two hour point would be grounds for a diabetes diagnosis, hence why there is a little concern as you would appear to be right on the edge of that. It will be interesting to hear the results of the other tests on Tuesday 🙂 I have changed your User Name to Davegeorges 🙂

Wish me luck.
Had blood test 2 weeks ago still waiting results.bit on tenterhooks as doctor said I am
Prediabetic.tests could prove if I have diabetes type 1.5.known as LADA.previously been very healthy and no symptons.been volunteering on a diabetes programme at King's college.the doctor said tests so far have shown there could be a problem with insulin?come on doctors do your stuff.

Pre diabetes
Any help regarding food for breakfast.got acid reflux so can't eat fruit.been told to cut down on carbs-so cut out pots.rice and white bread.do like a cereal-eating ready break at moment.going to get a code free kit to check my blood sugar levels.any ideas folks.

The general opinion here is not to have too much or cut out completely bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, breakfast cereal. Many people eat the Burgen Soya and Linseed. Also cut out or keep to a minimum chocolates, biscuits, cakes etc but that does not mean you cannot have any as a treat from time to time.

If you like cooking or have someone at home who does there are some lovely recipes in that section of the Forum.
