Anyone tried them and did they work?

I've used them when I've been a bit low, to bring my levels up, just for something different. I wouldn't use them for a full on hypo, because the fibre in them would slow the absorption of the glucose down, and you need something that will act as fast as possible if you're really having a full on hypo.

Thanks for the advice. I will use them as a top up as suggested. Left over from Christmas this years resolution is waste not want not.

I've not tried dates, but I use other dried fruit (dried apricots or raisins) if I'm in the high 3s sometimes, or in the low 4s, especially if it's just before a meal and I don't want the hassle of doing a full hypo treatment when I'm just about to eat anyway. I wouldn't use them for anything lower though, as I don't think it would be safe, as Robin says.

Btw you can always use pure fruit juice instead of jelly babies if you want something healthier for more serious hypos!
