Dapagliflozin and low carb diet

Hello @Noggin11 sorry to jump on your thread however, wanted to ask my DN told me in my first telephone appointment on Friday that ketones only possibly happen when double figures readings with monitor and very unlikely when get readings in single figures. Anyone else know if this is correct?
Generally you are correct but some medications, those with flozin in the name, can cause ketones with normal blood sugars

I have ordered the ketone strips and signed up for the libre 2 as finger pricking is hurting. Thanks for all your help guys.

Hi @Leadinglights, I know I must be doing something wrong, I'll do some research. My husband sorted out the Libre 2 for me, he is quite technical so is interested in all the graphs etc.

There are several YouTube videos about finger pricking technique.
Start with your lancing device on the lowest setting if you can adjust it to start with.
Make sure your hands are clean and warm, then massage your finger towards the tip, middle two fingers work best for me anyway. Then put your thumb onto the pad and prick just to the side of that and apply gentle pressure with your thumb until you get your small drop of blood. Then put your strip in the monitor and touch the end onto the drop and it will be sucked into the reservoir of the strip, it does not go on the top of the strip. Make sure you know which end goes in the monitor. You really only need a drop of blood the size of a pin head.

I used to give blood and hated the finger prick before the donation. Someone here said the nurses on blood donation go deeper and when I had a go I realised it was fine. I use 1 or 2. I still have a slight feeling of dread but that is worse than the actual deed. I have one slightly sore finger where I foolishly hit the middle of the pad. It helps making sure hands warm and clean.

Thanks @saffron15 I think it's me just being a big baby. I hate any type of needles.
