I start my Dafne course tomorrow bright and early just worried abit incase I get a hypo when I get there as I don't normally get up early in mornings as I work from home I will be walking there to so more chance of a hypo I guess I also hope it's worthwhile last thing I want is to get there and it's all abit like I knew it would be then I will lose motivation and take a backward step and probably head for the exit door lol

How long have you been diagnosed?
When I done my local equivalent I had only been diagnosed for a month, so I found it helpful, plus meeting others with type 1. However, you might feel differently if you've been diagnosed a while and know what to do 😉

12 years now yeah I wish I had done it when I was newly diagnosed and was a novice mind you I still feel like a novice lol I am a little sceptable meeting other type ones as I have never been in a room full of other type ones that will feel odd at first and I will be there for a whole day and don't wanna walk out as I will feel like I let myself down so I will do my best to try and learn what I can and get involved

Best of luck Sunny, hope you really enjoy the day. It is really tiring - lots of learning and long days, but worth sticking out if you can

How do you usually lessen chance of going hypo during / after exercise? Do you ever take less short acting insulin before meal before and / or eat a bit more carbohydrate? What hypo treatment food / drink do you care with you? You should have something to hand at all times, so that usually means in bag or clothing pockets when walking.
Hope you enjoy your course and meeting people with type 1 diabetes in real life.

Well just come back from my first day of my dafne course it was quite good but tiring and being sat down most the day it made my levels abit high the group work and discussion was worthwhile though just wish there had been somewhere there my age group most were old and Middle Aged but no offence I managed to get along with everyone

I give less for my meal but I still drop low that's for the fast acting tho the background one I give units 8 units of lantus I use to give 18 so am giving less than half that but if it goes low it starts going up again it's self maybe cause some foods take longer to digest fully if it's 3.3 after I excersise 45 mins after it goes to 6.3 without me doing anything I always have lucozade with me and occasionally sweets
