DAFNE is Dose adjustment for normal eating and is done by people on insulin so they can eat normal and adjust the ammount of insulin used as necssary.

I think BERTIE is similar although not sure what the letters stand for.

BERTIE - Bournemouth Type 1 Intensive Education

Looks like they were a bit liberal with the placment of the 'E' 😉

Thanks guys, I thought I was missing out on something lol, I assume these are just for Type 1's 🙂

makes sense but this article suggests it stands for
Beta cell Education Resources for Training in Insulin and Eating 😱

and there are are also:
BRUCIE in Ayr, DAFYDD in Abergavenney, ALFFI in Carshalton, DELIA in Dudley and DAISY in South Tyneside
( Any guesses what ALFFI could stand for? the article doesn't say)

Also CARBS 4-1 - Coventry And Rugby whatever; at least I know this course was designed under the auspices of and the Cov (well, Rugby TBH) nurses were trained and mentored for it by the team at BDEC (Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre) but don't know if the other courses were or not or they've just decided to jump on the acronym bandwagon.

There's another one called SAILING (? Southampton or Portsmouth, not sure) and PASTIE (which rather surpisingly I believe is in Devon!)

The one I did in Southampton was called 'Diabetes4Life', which for me had a sort of double meaning - it's either a positive slant, meaning live your life to the full despite diabetes', or a very negative one as in 'You've got it for life matey, deal with it!' 🙄
