Today is the day that I am going to take Diabetes and Diet serious again.

The last 6 months have been pretty tough in my life and I am ashamed to say that I haven't being taking my Diabetes and diet serious. From June 2011 my lovely mum became unwell and spent the next 4 months in and out of hospital and sadly she died on the 31st October 2011. With the help and support of family and friends I have got through the last few months. My mother and father in law who are normally in good health both became unwell in November which has continued through December which ended with my mother in law being admitted into hospital on Christmas Day. :(. Fortunately she has now been discharged and will hopefully continue to improve and get back to good health.

So now I need to find some me time and give my Diabetes and the Diet the attention it requires. With your help and support I am sure I can do this up until 6 months ago I was doing quite well. My daughter gets married 21 weeks on Sunday so I really need to get myself focussed on Diet and Exercise as I would really like to loose 1 and a half to 2 stone in weight before then....................I hope I can achieve this. I am going to join weight watchers this week, get myself to the gym 3 times a week going to try and go on my exercise bike each morning for 20 mins and also try and fit a short walk in each lunchtime during the week.

Need to get my monitor out and get the BG checked in the morning time to get my life back on track.😱

Wish be luck as I thing I might need it.

Hi Sheilagh I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such a difficult time. Good luck with getting back on top of everything

Hi Sheilagh

Good luck Sheilagh you know you can do it.

Sorry to hear your mother died.

We are all here right behind you xxx

Sorry to hear about your sad news, glad to hear that your in-laws are ok.

Good luck with your quest, I'm sure you'll conquer it.

Hi Sheilagh,

Sorry to hear your bad news.

Of course you've had (even) bigger things on your mind than your own health lately, but I'm sure that you can now get back in charge of this, especially with such a happy occasion to look forward to.

If you need extra motivation, just think how much of a relief it'll be for your own daughter to see you getting fitter and healthier, one less thing to worry about for her at what can be a stressful as well as an exciting time!

Best of luck.

Yup - and of course the wedding photos that will be there to remind you - whether you do manage it or not, for the next 50 years or so!

Let it not be 'NOT' :D

Sorry to hear you've had such a hard time Sheilagh.

I hope 2012 is a better year and what lovely motivation- your daughter's wedding! Good luck with your goals 🙂

Hi Sheilagh,

I thought I was the only one who had gone awol.

I was saddened to read about your sad news and I think we know that when we get stressed, it plays havoc with our bg numbers and we're rather not know!

I had a UTI last month and was put on antibiotics. I came off the remaining 1 x 500mg of Metformin and since then, my bg's have been erratic to say the least.

The whole idea of this forum, is to hold each other's hands through the highs and the lows and with the lovely support we should all manage to clear our paths and focus, focus, focus on staying healthy.

Donna x🙂

Thanks for your support everyone 🙂

The dirty deed has now been done I have just joined weightwatchers online........paid up front for 3 months. I now need to study what I can and cant eat and print some information/recipies off. Looks to be a good website with lots of extra information. Lets see what weight loss the first week brings

To any other weightwatcher members out there can I pm you if I have any problems
