It would be for the OP to ask the details eg how much leeway there is, if brief spikes are ok, etc, etc. As with most things, it’s a balance between control/staying well and leading your life.

Yes I think if would be really helpful to have an understanding of what time in range to aim for. Aside from them saying “as much as possible”, it would be great if @Revdeal could have some idea of how hard to push without diabetes completely taking over!

I’ve just altered my Dexcom Clarity settings to show 4.2-7.8 and I get 76% over the past 90 days vs the 89% that I get if I use my usual 3.9-9.0 range.

Great to hear your lung function and weight are going well @Revdeal, and that your CFRD isn’t giving you too many rough symptoms. Be kind to yourself, and keep plugging away at it 🙂

I get 67% TIR for the past 90 days according to Libre with that adjusted range as oppose to 90% with the normal Libre 3.9-10, but it has to be remembered that @everydayupsanddowns uses a sophisticated closed loop pump system and I use MDI with a low carb way of eating and we are both pretty experienced at using insulin. I am not sure that would be a reasonable target for someone just starting out on insulin.
One of the great things about Libre was that it lessened the mental strain by making more achievable targets in my opinion and I think narrowing the target range and starting insulin is perhaps not a balanced long term approach.
I know I would far rather have a wider target and have great success in achieving it.... ie my 90% TIR, than have a narrower range and be just missing a target of say 70% even if in reality the results are almost the same. I would just feel demoralized.
My view is that perhaps the CF consultant doesn't fully understand how the targets with Libre work as compared to finger prick targets..... or they don't fully understand how difficult it is achieving those targets.

I vote for 'Both' there.

I wouldn't consult a CF expert about my diabetes nor if I had CF consult a diabetologist.

Goodness only knows that the majority of GPs or GP surgery nursing staff don't, so how would they? To even be a Specialist Nurse for any condition, it means studying and achieving an extra Uni Degree but to be eligible to enter that Uni course you have to work in the speciality full time and they can't do that if they work in another specialism full time.

Hi all I received a telephone call yesterday from my local diabetes specialist who has reviewed my freestyle libre report and has concluded that no medication or insulin is required. I will now be consulting with my CF team.
