I was diagnosed ‘diabetic’ in January 2022 and I’ve only just had a blood test to determine my type.
I’ve lived in hell for 6 months with this debilitating disease
Been started on insulin but still reading at 20 most days
Silver lining I’ve lost loads of weight but I’m sick of being tiered, thirsty and depressed!

Hi @Mraw90 What insulin(s) have you been started on? People are usually started on conservative doses, then they’re gradually increased. The sick and tired feelings will be the high blood sugar. It can make you feel really rough. Do you have the means to test for ketones?

Hi @Mraw90 and welcome to the forum.
Have you only just had the blood taken for the 2 tests for Type 1? Doctors naturally assume it's Type 2 in those who are over 30 and are overweight.
Or have you just got a result of the tests? - I believe it takes a long time because there are so few labs that do the tests and they take a while to do, unlike a simple HbA1C test to diagnose (some sort of) Diabetes.

Welcome to the forum @Mraw90

Sorry to hear you’ve been having such a tough time with your diabetes. :(

Hope you manage to get some clarity over your classification soon, and can begin to get your levels into a more comfortable place. Have you had any reviews since January to adjust your doses?

And have you had any support in adjusting your menu so that it balances with your meds a little more evenly?
