Oh and PS if you chuck a few sultanas in your B&B pud you can eliminate needing sugar in the egg custard mix entirely!

Hi Sulfate I appreciate your honesty, thanks for the tips.
Do you eat only brown rice and pasta with lots of veg?
NB!! It may only be 'a couple of months' BUT your scrips are free NOW as long as they/you have applied for an exemption certificate! Regrettably, they don't now refund what you've had to pay in between the right now and the issue of the cert.

You've entered into the arena of false economy as quite a lot of us on this forum regard it, in the world of healthcare by joining the merry band of people with diabetes. They underestimate the ability of anyone at all being able to work thing outs for themselves, by educating themselves about their own bodies and it's functions and disfunctions, at any age. End before it's a rant.

Hi Trophywench I usually throw in a generous helping of sultanas in any case but I take your advise on board I’m since like a nice
Absolutely, I just add a bit of sweetener and scatter a tsp of demerara on the top.

I eat wholewheat pasta once a week. Basmati rice occasionally. New potatoes roasted in olive oil and small jacket potato,I do weigh my portions.

I made some granola with a bit of date squashed into it for sweetness. Worked well and wasn't that high in carbs.

Question please just to satisfy my curiosity - why did you choose the name derived from the French presumably - of Couversior?

Seems good to me I’ll certainly give it a try

Hi all
My GP has referred me to see a Dietitian.

If you’re able, a walk after meals can work wonders in stabilising glucose levels.

(I love Courvoisier too). Wouldn't they let you use the actual brand spelling?

:D It never even crossed my mind it was an old favourite mis-spelled. It is indeed a VSOP. Have visited Cognac itself several times and the town itself is now unrecognisable from the very black place it was in the 1970s, cos it now looks so clean, though back in those days we were utterly unaware of the necessity of producing 'Angel Hair' in the distilling process for anything better than cooking spirit and reason for it. Still never been in a brandy distillery but meanwhile we did visit a Calvados one during a previous visit to Normandy and seen similar 'cobwebs' there.

Always interesting, this forum, even if we have gone more than off topic!

I can still remember the first time I visited Cognac. I would have been about 8 or 9 I think. We took a boat through the Hennessy caves that were used to store the aging barrels of cognac and the smell was sublime.

I love walking but due to a dodgy hip which starts to pain and is worse in the winter.
I like to swim 3 times a week and don’t mind some resistance weights but not yoga nor palates, but I’m aware that cardio workout is good so I’ll need to get some advice from my local gym

it would appear that you lived a full life in your hay day?

good morning my new mates you’ll be pleased to know that I am taking control and visiting the gym to do cardio workout for the first time since 2020. Don’t get me wrong I have been doing excercise at home mainly then I switched to swimming but I need to get the heart pumping so join in with me ‍♀️

Nah, gone camping/caravanning/motorhoming and/or hotel and/or self catering holidays abroad since we were in our 20s as well as the UK. The Calvados distillery visit occurred whilst staying in a gite not far from Honfleur, that we'd travelled to by motorbike as it happens. Southampton - Le Havre, out of the docks, hang a right, over the pont du Normandie, off at the first exit to roundabout, R for Honfleur but L for where we stayed.

@ColinUK - you can't do things like that now, H&S blah blah, delicate little hothouse kiddywinks! 😱 I mean - you've quite clearly been scarred for life from the experience, haven't you!
