When I injected C, I counted to 10 slowly. I saw in somewhere someone counted to 20, so I'm interested how many do you count to. Thank you.

I count to 10 but not too slowly

Usually 6, and sometimes very quickly, though I do find myself sometimes counting to the number of units injeceted when my brain isn't quite with it!!

Do you actually mean whilst injecting? - or after before removing the needle? 10 after in my case. Think that's the universally recommended count for that, isn't it? The jab itself takes longer or shorter depending on how many units, and normally I'd say takes a count of 2 for every 1u. Ish !

So 18u of Lantus would take a lot longer than 3u Novorapid for lunch.

But then I don't think I ever really thought about the jab itself too much - just 'steady' rather than 'hurried'.

Yeah, I meant whilst injecting. My DSN told me from the start to count to 10 slowly and I've not changed it 🙂 when I saw someone mentioned 20 so I just wonder.

Hi Ruth -we were always told a count of 10 too

Hi Ruth,

I've seen this somewhere. I mentioned it at my diabetic review the other day and my DSN said it was rather a long time / number to count to. So about 10 is probably the best. I count to 10 sometimes slowly sometimes quickly.

Or count eg 1 elephant, 2 dinosaurs etc. Whatever keeps you happy - and needle in flesh long enough that insulin doesn't leak out when you remove needle...
