Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi all
I have had numbrous tests done in the past 2.5 years which they though would boil down to IBS. However, when at the doctor yesterday the last results i have had showed an inflamation in relation to the small intestine.
Apart from this, they have told me i am low in iron (which i know for a few years now), but they have also come back and said i have an elevated CPR in relation to my bloods. its 42 and it should be a max of 5. They cannot find the reason for this.

Does anyone have any idea if this is diabetes related. I have googled a few things on it but to be honest at this stage i am scaring myself.

Does anyone have anything similar or know if this could be diabetes related. im Type 1.

Thanks
Noelle

Hi Noelle.

Could you clarify what CPR is please ?

I tried to look it up but wikipedia is down today so I'm in the dark.🙄

Did you discuss it with your doctor ?

Hi, sorry i meant CRP rate.

Its a protein found in the blood which can rise due to an inflamation. But its been high for so long they think something else might be raising it which they cannot find out what.

I have my next appointment with my doctor on march 2nd. Though he never mentioned it could be related to the diabetes, i am wondering if its one of those things that is. He was in the rheumatology clinic which my doctor refered me to.

According to this link

http://arthritis.about.com/cs/diagnostic/a/crp.htm

the CRP count is non-specific and merely indicates an inflammation somewhere.

It could be arthritis apparently (which I think is auto immune related) but have a higher chance of lots of other conditions, most of which are common and can be treated.

I would assume the most likely, which is that it's a rough indicator that shows something inflamed, which could be something or nothing. If it was anything bad, I'm sure they would be doing urgent tests to establish what it is so that they can move on. I can see no indication online that it might be more than that but you'd need to chat to your doctor to find out what he thinks it might be.

have you been tested for coeliac disease?? alot of the same symptoms as IBS and often people will become anermic due to the fact your body will stuggle to absorb vitamins and minerals.( i am also not sure what CPR is)
🙂

Thanks Rob, just came across this which caused me to think it could be a factor of diabetes or heart disease.

hi loulou, they have tested me for coeliac disease twice which seemed to be clear. they have also tested different things to try to eliminate crohn's disease, which they have not completely eliminated. They have said if the results stay high and it seems to be ongoing they will repeat the biopsies of the bowl and the follow through of the dye to see my intestines.
