:( :( so sorry about this news :( it would have been the best part of the Olympics!

Am I allowed to say this?

Bugger and damn !!!!

I think all 3 of you would have been great , Alan shiv and shelley 🙂

How come Will.I.Am gets to carry the torch and we don't? What on earth is his connection to the London Olympics? :(

Exactly my thoughts, Alan. I thought the "honour" of being a torch carrier was being given to people who had done something worthwhile in the community etc not featuring so-called "celebs" or those already famous for sporting events - not fair...(this morning the first one was Dr Who - the latest one, can't recall his name). I'm sick of the whole coverage already.

Hubby and I were discussing this. We think they have involved 'celebs' generally to try and attract the public to line the route, come to the evening events etc and generally get 'engaged' in the whole Olympic doodah.

There would be people who would turn out to see eg William (I refuse to spell it wrong) or Dr Who who wouldn't have the slightest interest in the torch relay otherwise. Especially as they couldn't guarantee the weather!

Yep hubby and I came to the same conclusion but I still think the honour (if that's what it is) of carrying the torch should have been allocated to ordinary "heroes" (Like our Alan, Shiv etc) and the celebs could have turned up anyway to encourage the crowds to attend - or perhaps they would have demanded money to do so ? (old cynic that I am !).

Agree with Faith! Would have been great to get the celebs along to cheer on our heroes!

I reckon we should have our own Olympic torch bearers on the forum.

I know we have the hero and heroine of the month, couldn't we have DiOlympic Torch bearers through the whole of the Olympic season 🙂

My 3 nominations are;

1. Northerner - Alan who work's behind the scenes here all hours of day and night, offering help, guidance and support.

2. Steff - For keeping me sane the last 18 months

3. Trophywench - For helpful support and advice (and I don't think has ever been nominated for hero\heroine of the month)

Cheers

Andy
