Hi I'm Alex I'm 18, over the past month I've been having symptoms which includes a static eyesight, constantly thirsty, big lump in my throat and now lately I've had this tingling in my legs and feet (my feet burn sometimes) is this diabetes?

Hi Alex, have they mentioned anything about blood glucose?

Hi Alex, welcome to the forum.

Some of your symptoms do match those of diabetes, but you really should get down to the doctors for them to run some tests. It could be something simple, and if it is diabetes, at least you know of this forum for any help you need should you be diagnosed.

Fingers crossed for you. If diabetes is the result, it's not the end of the world, it can be manageable if you have the right mindset.

Thanks very much, if it is diabetes ill be relieved because at least I know what the problem is and how to deal with it, its been a hard month

There are 2 tests which are key, Fasting Blood Glucose (blood glucose levels after fasting for at least 8 hours) and HbA1c which is a blood glucose average over the last 3 months.

Do you have any family history of diabetes? for many of us there is a genetic predisposition....

Anyway, best of luck with the Dr., hope they can pin it down to something simple.

Hope all goes well for you Alex, let us know how you get on. I hope it's not diabetes, but turns out to be something else that is easily treatable - as you say, at least you'll know and have a way forward so you can start feeling better again 🙂

Hi Alex. I hope it's only good news for you. Please let us know how you get on. However if it turns out you've joined our select club trust me it's perfectly manageable and you're likely to end up fitter and healthier than before your symptoms started. There is a wealth of info and understanding support on here, so ask as many questions as you need, knowledge is power.
