Hello everyone
I hope you are all keeping well. I'm after some guidance. I have been a Type 1 diabetic for 43 years. I am now self-isolating but live with my wife and 2 daughters (19 and 13). They are trying to self-isolate too but my wife has to go out to get shopping etc. At home, should I be isolated from them too?
I've looked online and there does not seem to be any specific guidance on this.

Hello Shrimper. I've no idea, all the advice is very confusing. Maybe isolate yourself away from your wife but it seems very drastic. I think I saw on the news somebody isolating themselves into their bedroom and family were leaving trays outside the door! Somebody on here will know. 🙂

The advice for people with Type 1 diabetes is 'social distancing' rather than self-isolation.

Depending on how well controlled your diabetes is, and whether you have any complications, of course, if you were to catch it, the chances are you wouldn’t get it any more severely than the rest of the population. It’s your own decision, of course, as to how stringently you keep away from people, but Ive just been out to do my shopping, managed to pick a quiet time at our local supermarket, took a mediwipe to clean the trolley handle, and sanitised my hands before driving home. Everyone in the shop was leaving plenty of room between them and the next customer, and I didn’t feel threatened at all.
