Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
Hi all, I am Newly diagnosed prediabetic and have been looking at cook books. Can anyone recomend one that has helped them please.
I used to have a bannana every day, that was like a chocolate fix for me. I can leave chocolate alone but its a bannana I miss. so I have 1 a month that is a real treat for me. thanks all.

Any of the Caldesi books are good, weight loss for diebetes, or you can just look for low carb recipes on the internet or sugarfeelondoner web site has some good stuff.

One strategy popular with T2 members (and those at risk of diabetes) is to ‘eat to their meter‘ - which means you can choose any recipes that you like the sound of and then see what happens to your blood glucose levels.

You can take a BG reading immediately before eating, and again 2hrs after the first check. Ideally you’d be looking for a rise of 2-3mmol/L or less at the 2hr mark.

If you see a bigger rise, you might consider reducing the portion of starchy carbs, or perhaps swap for a different source.

It might be interesting for you to check what response you get from your banana - people respond to things differently, and you might be lucky, you might find that bananas are on your OK list, even though you are currently being quite careful because of their reputation 🙂
