Pub optics are 25ml in England, 25-35ml in Scotland. These are fixed in law, but if your used to order a double, it can take English drinkers by surprise in some Scottish Bars.

Carb exchanges all = 10g and might be termed a carb portion or ration or exchange. Why the hell in Coventry they were termed LINES I have never yet fathomed out.
It wasn't just Coventry, I think lines were the measurement in the very distant past as vaguely remember them from my childhood even though never used lines.

Nah. Much more useful is the barleycorn. Barleycorns/barleycorn is the perfect unit to use when measuring strain.

In Cov&Warks in 1991 they were Exchanges for me!

They were Exchanges for my mum. Didn't know what she was talking about when I was 5 years old!

Ah - perhaps it was Nuneaton Mike - when I moved in with Pete he was kinda used to T1 as his younger daughter's best mate was T1 - hence there was instantly room for insulin at the top of the fridge door, knew about safe sharps disposal, needles, strips etc etc. She and her parents called them 'Lines' - but she attended Geo Eliot hospital, not UHCW.

If, like me, you watch your alcohol intake, then, since one unit of alcohol is 10 ml, using metric measures makes far more sense. Thus one litre of 4.2% abv beer (or cider) contains 4.2 units of alcohol, so a half litre glass contain 2.1 units (half of 4.2). The same works for every other drink. Good quality whisky is often 40% abv and 40% of 25ml is 1.0, so a 25ml tot contains one unit. Likewise, 125ml is an eighth of a litre, so a small (125 ml) glass of 12% abv wine contain 1.5 units.

Let's go back to pounds, shillings, and pence while we're at it.

I think this initiative is deliberately pandering to people who think that would be good.

It will never happen.
It's just Boris throwing red meat to his fans, to distract from negative press about him.
He's always been bluster with no substance.
