I saw my lovely consultant last week and he has looked at my daily blood readings and has come to the conclusion that they do not reflect my HbA1c!!

He has taken bloods again and if I am still in the 7%'s he is going to put me on a cgm for 5 days. I'm cool with this. However I dont now see him again for another six months.

I suspect that I am dropping during the night and not waking and then my good old liver is having a dump!!

I did wake one day last week at 3.30 and my bs was 2.5. Then two days later I woke at 7.30 with a bs of 14.1 !! OMG is all I can say to that as I normally wake in the 4 to 5 range. I hadnt had anything I shouldn't have.

So for now it's back to food diary and continuous testing !! What type am I again 🙄

Hope you can get to the bottom of it Di 🙂 Does your consultant still think you are Type 2?

Hope it all works out well for you. It is always worth keeping an eye on things.

In exactly the same boat as you Di.

Consultants can't make their mind up whih type I am either. They won't spend any money doing further tests to clarify either. Their opinion is that insulin works so it doesn't matter

Di sorry to hear that you're having these problems but I'm glad that the consultant is investigating it for you.

Glad things going well, it must be reassuring

I have never seen a consultant ... Wonder why ? I have now , I think, found a good GP practice with an amazing nurse but I don't have a regular person to connect with... Maybe it will settle down !

Hi Alan, we have discussed my type but not to sure which way the consultant is going now. Hes put me on the waiting list for the DAFNE and now the possibility of the cgm.

I suppose so long as I get the care I need the type is back seat. We've had discussions on my D progression and personally I think I've been incorrectly typed x

I think the thing that has always struck me is how similar we are in requirements, the fact that you are on low doses of insulin and were also started on it. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't got to the stage of DKA with my diabetes and had gone to the doctor with symptoms (which I had, with hindsight), I would have gone down the T2 route largely due to my age.

As you say, getting the appropriate treatment is what is important and thankfully, whatever type you are, you got insulin from the start. The problems arise when people are dxed T2 when they are T1.5/LADA, and end up struggling badly on T2 meds until the medics light bulb starts flashing.

That is what I was thinking. I've told my consultant about how you ended up in hospital and your diagnosis and treatment. He was very interested. I do hope my HbA1c has improved x
