Saw my consultant today and it was a realy good app,he realy listened to me,he confirmed that i have nerve damage in my feet and he is stepping up my level of care and is going to work closly alongside the dsn amd dietition to get me where i need to be,he would like me to have a c peptide test but he cant get funding for it apperently it costs 500.

The Peninsula Medical School at Exeter Uni published a while ago re urinary C-peptide/creatnine values and said at the time that the test could be available to other hospitals at a cost as little at ?10.

If you Google Exeter University C-peptide it comes up with all sorts of references to the test.

Now I have no idea whatever whether their original prediction of cost was upheld, or what. Or how the results compare to the 'usual' blood test. But it seems to me it could be a worthwhile alternative for consideration?

I've had that test done to me and it has limitations.

Apparently it is only really used for differentiating between a Type 1 and a Type 2 since it doesn't actually provide a number representative of how much c-peptide you are producing.

Right, thanks for clarifying that Mark.
