Blood sugars still in the 20s. I've had three courses of antibiotics, coz of chest, urine n skin infections, and I've finished the courses. Still feel no better. Is infections common in diabetes? I'm controlling my diet low sugar and taking metaformin 1500mg and 30mg gliclazide. Still doing nothing GP said he'd up the dose next week.

Hi Laura, the infections are driving up your numbers and the high blood sugars are feeding the infection. So you need to put your foot down and demand extra help in getting your numbers down.
You say low sugar! can you tell up what you are eating then perhaps we can give you pointers in the right direction.

Have you also considered ringing NHS111 to ask for advice?

Thanks for yr response. I'm eating eggs, fish and vegetables like I've been told too. Plus drinking water. I'm constantly being on the phone coz of me.

Hi Laura,
if I were you I would be ringing 111 and asking for advice and hopefully an admittance to hospital to bring your numbers down and also test to see if you are in fact a type 1 rather than a type 2 thus needing insulin.

I have to agree with Sue, Laura. Ring 111 today, because it's the ideal opportunity on a Sunday when normal GP surgeries are not open, so they can't fob you off saying to ring them instead.

I'm glad you've decided to go to hospital. When you can, please let us know how you get on.
Constant infections are awful ( got the Tshirt) they really pull you down.
I hope you will soon be feeling much much better.
