Grumble grumble…

Just treating myself to a bit of Sylvester the Cat sassafracking (if anyone remembers the irate under-his-breath outpourings from the cartoons)

Yesterday I woke, walked the dog, dosed, waited, had coffee, then ate breakfast. BG levels rose to about 7.8 after an hour then dropped back to 4.8-5ish until lunch.

Today I woke, walked the dog, dosed, waited slightly less time as my BG was dipping, had coffee, then ate the same breakfast, from the same packet. BG levels peaked somewhere above 15.

This is a VERY silly game sometimes.

Can't help but think that the human system is essentially chaotic and although generally it behaves reasonably predictably sometimes a tiny change in one part of the system can have a big effect somewhere else.

In simple terms there are three things you can do with chaotic systems: drive yourself silly with worry; analyse them to death and get nowhere; or say what the h*ll and get on with life. Take your pick!

I think my body has an "inner dice" it throws to decide how my BG should react.
If it throws a 1 it behaves "normally", a 2 means "same as yesterday" , 3 means "random hypo", 4 means "random hyper", 5 means "BG to stay exactly where it is for the next hour regardless of exercise, food, insulin" and 6 means "f*** it make up whatever you want as long as it's not predictable".

I wonder if being inconsistent in your every day life, as I am, helps you to accept/tolerate this inconsistency of diabetes more easily or perhaps find it less frustrating.

Libre has certainly made this so much easier for me, in that I now simply respond to what it shows me is happening. If my levels are going up when I feel they shouldn't be, I hit them with Fiasp, if they continue to go up, as often happens for me, I hit them with more Fiasp. If they start to come down too fast, I slow them down with a jelly baby or two, if necessary.
I have a rough idea why some things happen the way they do, but as you demonstrate, sometimes it can seem really random and I am just learning to go with the flow, treat it as a game and deal with the challenges it throws at me.

I like to 'trick' my diabtes. Blood sugars going unexpectedly up? 'ha,ha, diabetes, you fell into my trap, i actually wanted a walk!'

Also, cleaning my teeth sees to be a foolproof way to get blood sugars to plummet.....

Grrrrrrr. It is just the way it is, but still can be very frustrating.
Easy enough to say go with the flow, it not always easy to do.
I hope that the leveks start behaving soon Mike.

I'm new to the whole diabetic insulin 'thang', but have come to realise that for the most part there's no rhyme or reason to the highs & lows sometimes, it's just about learning to accept that?
Btw, am I the only one who worries when I have readings of 4-5'ish?

Well, that was interesting! Blood sugars were about 4.7 and level, was just about to take a couple grams gucose, but didn't as got call. The caller was not happy!

51 min later...blood sugars up to 7.2. That's yer adrenline, that is!
