As some of you may remember from my post a little while ago, after years of no help from the medical people in controling my high fasting levels, I took the bull by the horns and increased my night time Insulaterd from 70 units to 100 units, with great success my fasting BGs for the next 10/12 days were running between 5 and 6.5.. Since then with no changes at all, the following 10/12 days they have now been running between 7.5 and 8.8.
Its a complete mystery to me, I don't know where to go next. My readings through out the day are perfect between 4 and 6.

John.

John.

How annoying is that. Does the body get used to the increased insulin and want more?maybe insist on chat with your team and explain what you have done and see if they can help. The d does as it pleases sometimes.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge might have a better insight x

I'm afraid it's a mystery to me as well John. Although your 7-8 fasting levels are reasonable given that you have great levels through the rest of the day I can see how irksome it is that it just won't seem to budge whatever you do! Perhaps it's just the way your body works - perhaps your liver is simply compensating for the fact that you have increased your insulin by releasing more glucose? It might be worth seeing what happens if you reduce the insulin again - will your fasting levels increase to 9-10 for a couple of days then settle back to 7-8s?

Have you tested in the early hours? Just wondering if you are dumping glucose due to a slight low at some point.

Weather/season is also changing, many find this causes a change in insulin needs as well.
Perhaps do some overnight testing to see what is going on after the clocks change next weekend?
