Hi all,
As some of you may remember (if your bored enough!) - i have been battling to get Alex's waking levels down for about 3 weeks now.
Good news - this morning he was 8.4 - ok not perfect- but 3 weeks ago he was 22mmols on waking!😱
So i split his levemir and very slowly every couple of days increased his night time dose. But, i am wondering whether this mornings level is a fluke - because obviously the hot weather has a huge impact on his use of novorapid- we reduce it by about a third on a hot day!
So i am now worried that as its about to get even hotter - should i reduce his evening levemir - or doesnt the weather affect the long acting as much as it affects the short acting?:confused:Bev

Bev, am in same boat here! Effect of heat...No idea. In any case though, even if it is a fluke, 8.4 is good number, so worth pursuing! It will have to drop quite a bit further to be in any kind of uncomfortable zone? I wouldn't myself reduce levermir just in case, because it's working...

Obviously, I'm completely different to either of your two boys, but I have maintained the same level of lantus (slow-acting) for a couple of months now and have found no effect from the hot weather on this - fasting/waking levels have been very stable. I have had to reduce the Novorapid though.

Hope the better numbers are here to stay!🙂

Patricia - you will be fine. You can put on temp basals willy nilly as and when needed.

Bev - you wil have to see what happens in the weather, some people go up and some go down, no-one is textbook. See which one Alex is, if either, and try with the NR instead of the levemir or the other way around.

Gotta go on school run.
