Confused and upset

Hi there, sounds like you are doing so good. I was 57 with first diagnosis then 48 with second blood test. I told my DN I didn't want meds until I had at least tried diet and exercise - and my results are pretty much akin with yours. I won't see her again until April so I've been left in peace. Steps - yes - the only time I might get to 2000 is when I go shopping with my daughter, otherwise it is pretty low. I started using the dust-gathering exercise bike, started out at 2 - 3 minutes max, then discovered virtual bike rides on YouTube and that made a big difference - you could use the same for the treadmill though I'm pretty sure I saw some virtuals for treadmills - worth a look. It sure makes a difference when you are by the ocean, somewhere in Japan or wherever you fancy being, having different things to look at helps the time pass by! I got up to 32 minutes a couple of times (though I pedal slightly faster than I first did, and I put on an extra spurt from time to time to get the calories up), although my DN said only to do what I can manage - I heard say that 30 mins exercise per week was acceptable, but I try and do something most days if I don't get out of the house. Every little helps. 8.8 after chips isn't too bad if it goes under 8 after 2 hours - or just have a couple, that's what I do; just a taster can stop us from feeling like we are missing out unless it really spikes high. Anyway, keep up the good work 🙂

Hi janw
I am the same I wanted to see if the change in food and excersize would lower it first , he has prescribed me metformin but I haven’t put the script in for it yet , I can get another blood test in January I’m going to have to behave over Christmas
Lol that sounds great with the virtual I’ll definitely take a look for them currently I’m watching a Christmas movie each time I go on there but I’ll be honest all that hot chocolate and cookies on there isn’t inspiring haha
I’m hoping once I learn a few more recipes I won’t feel so stagnant with it all I will say cauliflower and chicken curry was really good ! And I discovered the skinny noodle! 6 Cala and only 1.3 carbs to have with my bolognese so that totally lifted my mood !
I aim for 75g of carbs Max per day I sometimes fail if I have porridge for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch in the same day so I tried omelette on the days I have a sandwich
Im sure I’ll get the hang of it
I’d love to get up to double on the steps eventually because I have a big tum and it needs to go !
Good luck to you too x

Dreadmill. Ha ha. Love it. Thankfully I have a beach nearby to walk on and I love walking whilst listening to music.

You were interested in an update from people....

The diet thing can be daunting at first but I have discovered new foods and recipies and expanded my diet into new realms very successfully. I also discovered a new and real appreciation of food not just a need to eat. I savour each meal now ( except for yesterday when I ate a few wrong things). I also discovered that I didn't explode or dissolve if I ate something not planned for. In fact I feel that I have a new healthier freedom now all because I am super aware of what I am eating.

The walking is fun but reduced during the colder, wetter, windier weather roll on Spring.

All in all this is a good journey. Goodness known what might have happened had I not had the diagnosis when I did.

The GP and DN have not been very helpful along the way except that they accept my informed decisions and do not 'push' medication or incorrect diet advice onto me. Ahh, there's the rub I need to be better informed. I haven't seen or heard from either for months and months.

Hope that is of interest.

I'm sure exercise and mobility however little you do makes a difference. I have been pretty well immobile for the last 6 weeks due to surgery for a knee tendon rupture and can feel the inches going on round my middle despite cutting my portion size.
So keep up whatever you are able to do.
