I was pointing out that lowering carbs isn't possible on that insulin regime, despite it being the best treatment for ordinary type twos, which the OP might be, but could never find out.
Hi @Drummer, i am going to get the diabetic clinic to review my treatment once my BS is more stable and i have a better handle on things also, they only got confirmation yesterday as to the type i have so it's still early days, I'm going to count 13/3/20 as my official diagnosis date

Very sensible - the insulin choice and treatment has left you few options but I do hope that you'll eventually be able to try out the low carb option safely as it can be very effective indeed.
Yeah but since most of my meals are pretty low carb anyway - salads, stir fried veg, veg soup etc - it means i have more choice of what i can add into the mix or top the carbs up with. And I can't say how handy i have found the C&C app, this is the most comfortable I feel since my diagnosis
Even veggies have a surprising amount of carbs. My simple side salad comes out at 13gm carbs, and my soups around 25gm for a 300ml serving without any extras, depending on the veggies. I aim for 75gm carbs +- 15gm per day fully inclusive. I too use a great app.

veg choice is important but i can have three quarters of a kilo of mixed salad leaves for 13g of carbs. that's a lot of salad. also made soup, from scratch, using 300g of mixed veggies for 9g of carbs
