Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
:confused:Morning all.
Ever on the search for the perfect diet for me, which will help me get my BS readings on the level, I have been trolling through the internet on how to do this and came across this site that does not advocate diabetics eating carbohydrates in the form of breads, pasta, cereals, pulses, beans etc. but to eat protien and fats, and finding alternative carbohydrates in vegetables.

Having spent an hour or two reading the sites info. I am more confused than ever as they are saying that it is good to eat things like Butter and Cream and Animal Fats and Bad to eat bread etc.
Some of what this site says, made sense but a large portion of it just seemed utter nonsense, like saying you do not need to exercise.
Has anyone else come across this site and what do you think? and in your opinion is it good for a T2 to cut out Carbohydrates like, bread, rice, pasta etc. and get carbs from other sources?

Personally, I'd avoid any website with the words 'cure diabetes' in it :( There are lots of extreme diets that advocate high-fat/low or no-carbs and of course they can find plausible evidence to support them. They do work for some people, and we have members here who have had great success, but a lot depends on how far you are prepared to go in controlling your blood sugar levels by carb resriction, and what possible risks you may then be taking by being focussed on just one factor in your health.

Personally, I believe in 'moderation in everything' - we each need to find what works well for us as individuals. I prefer to follow a low GL diet, using my meter to further inform my food choices. This way I can retain good flexibility in my meal options and be sure that I am getting a good balance. 🙂

It depends. Physiologically, your body doesn't need dietary carbohydrates, and carbohydrates raise your blood sugar. So technically you may be able to manage T2 without eating carbs at all, but you certainly wouldn't be cured.

Many people with T2 find reducing their carb intake makes managing their blood sugar easier. Many people with T2 also find the prospect of never eating any bread or rice or potatoes ever again somewhat limiting. You need to find the balance that works for you.
