Thank you Grovesey and Mikey. Unfortunately Mikey I'm not in a position to have a dog and cats aren't my thing. A lot has changed in the three years since Susie passed away which would make having a dog almost impossible, especially as I wouldn't be able to walk it and would rely on Mark whose job has got a lot more busy in the last 18 months. Plus this particular bout of depression is caused by several things happening this year that have piled on top of each, especially family things since Mum passed away - which I don't want to discuss on here but they came to a bit of a head this weekend and I got caught up in the fallout. But thank you for the suggestion.
Hi AJ, sorry to hear you're not feeling too good again :( have you considered something like Borrow My Doggy? https://www.borrowmydoggy.com/

It is shame you got caught up in the fallout. Dogs do need exercising unfortunately.

I can’t see Amanda being a natural ‘dog borrower’ to be honest. Like me she probably wouldn’t want to give it back! 😱:D

Thank you everyone. That's a lovely idea Sprogladite but Amigo has summed me up perfectly. I did foster a dog once, for two weeks, and giving her to her adopted mum broke my heart - it genuinely took me a year to recover and I still think about her from time to time.
