Hi
so the I was sorting out our home office and came across about 10 old complete blood suger monitor books and I've realised I dont know what to do with them I know keeping last one before the completed one so diabetic drs, nurses and specialist can see how suger levels are though out mouths previously.
so what do you do with your 3 or 4 years old books

They should be recyclable if they’re just paper ones.

Doesn't your meter download (eg to Diasend) when you go to see them so your clinic can see exactly what your BG's been up to? Or have you now got a Libre, in which case you can download it yourself to Libreview shared with your clinic with the access code they will give you if they use it.

I freely admit I'm pretty gobsmacked to find a T1 of 5-ish years standing, keeping paper records of BGs. Why?

You've just reminded me that I have old books still in my bedside drawer.
I don't use them anymore since I started using the Libre.
I'm going to keep the oldest book from my diagnosis last September and the rest will be used for kindling for tomorrow's barbeque

my monitor doesn't have any of that its a micro dot + that was given to me by my drs surgery when I was frist diagnosed with my diabetes . The diabetic nurses just gave me paper ones and have always said I can phone though for more .

thats sound like a great idea I may have to do that

Welcome to the forum @Wolfiewill26

Depends whether you’d like to keep for posterity I guess!

I’m pretty sure I’ve still got some old ones knocking around somewhere 🙂

Plus maybe it’s time to ask about a snazzier more modern BG meter?

We still keep a diary after nearly 9 years, only because daughter insists on it though! I wanted to stop after we’d had the Libre for a while, it was useful in the beginning when we didn’t know what we were doing but I don’t really see the point any more, once in a blue moon it’s useful to see what you have been eating over the last few days but not very often. So daughter fills it in herself now, as she is the one who wants to keep it going. I think it’s just habit with her though, I don’t think she ever looks at it again!

We also have the previous 8 years worth stacked up on a bookshelf, again I wanted to throw the oldest ones away but she wouldn’t let me!! Why do I need to know what her blood sugars were doing 8 years ago?! We never look back at any of them!

I use Diasend and Libreview to hold my Diabetic info.................... well I used too until this morning when I got a error warning on my pc.
It said "Freestyle data hub licence expired" and when I rang them they blamed Diasend and said they no longer supported them.
Apparently they stated this some 4 weeks ago that they were dumping Diasend but I must have missed this.
I'm away down to Cornwall tomorrow surfing with Bo & Jo the big man from America for 10 days so I'll have to wait till I return to find out what the hospital and my SDN wants me to do.

Best

I of course donate mine to the British Library 😉 During the virus emergency no one else but me has seen them so I stopped doing them. All relevant info is on the meter anyway.

Mr Marten and I both used to work in the British Library! He has copies of all his bank statements, going back *** years - I only have about the last 20 years' worth 😛

Mine are in the Bodleian, some written with a quill on parchment - if Pete had Type 1 his would be on stone tablets .....
