Hi all

I was wondering about these coke zero drinks. I don't drink them but wanted to know for diabetics whether they are suitable to drink or not. More really for my education

Thanks

Check the ingredients. Most of them have some nasty sweeteners like aspartame and acesulfame K and often products pushed as 'suitable for diabetics' are actually pretty nasty concoctions masquerading as 'healthy.' They won't do any harm as a one-off now and again but I wouldn't be drinking them regularly.

That said there are some very nice flavoured sparkling drinks that are just sparkling water with natural flavours and no sweeteners and I buy them. Off the top of my head : Aqua Libra sparkling water , S. Pellegrino Essenza sparkling water, and Ugly sparkling water.

Or you can get plain sparkling water and drop a slice of lemon or other fruit in - if you recycle the fruit into a few glasses it shouldn't cause any issues as the carbs ought to be negligible - assuming the fruit is yours and the drink is yours obvs - I don't mean share the fruit pieces repeatedly!! Or at all!! LOLS.

I stick to decaff tea and coffee seomtimes with zero carb unsweetened long life almond milk, water (still or sparkling) and almond milk as a drink sometimes with a couple of frozen berries and a bit of erythritol and blitzed and sometimes with decaff coffee and sweetener and blitzed as a cold coffee "shake" and sometimes with some double cream and 100% cocoa powder and sweetener as a hot chocolate.

Coke zero isn’t the healthiest drink on the planet but it’s very low carb

Be aware that some people find caffeine can raise their blood sugar. So, although Diet soda drinks contain no sugar, they still may affect your blood sugar level.
