My daughter had her biopsy today for coeliacs under general anaesthetic. She was so good and so brave. I was concerned about her being nil-by-mouth but they placed her first on the list and we headed down just after 9am, she was back in my arms by 10am.
Managed to keep BG's between 6 and 8 until she felt like eating again, so pleased that aspect went smoothly.
Consultant had a chat with me afterwards to report he is sure she has it, from what he had seen, but biopsy will take a good week to come back and confirm same. I expected this as I phoned a few weeks back to see what levels her anti-bodies had been and was told 300+ with a normal range of (I think) 12-18 😱 Plus in just the last 2-3 weeks she has had tummy aches every evening.
Any-hoo, over the past few weeks in the lead up have trialled a couple of meals of her fave pasta but gluten free and surprised with good results. (I like being prepared and didn't want to have to face any sudden drastic change).
A new learning curve for us but will tackle head on 😉
