hi, i am also type 1 and coeliac!!!! was digagnosed type 1 just over 18 months ago and then been coeliac since jan!!
its isnt that bad, you really just learn to live with it!! i would say it costs more to live and eating out can be differecult. but more places are being friendly to us, bella italina have a whole menu for us, pizza hut and dominos do gluten free!!!
if anything being both coeliac and diabetic has made me a lot healthier as it makes you think about what your eating, i have lost nearly a stone in weight with out even trying.
my blood sugars have been fine, last hab1c was 5.8 so all good! you just have to be aware that gluten free products can have different carb value to their sub. so carb and cal book doesnt always cover our food as not always like for like!!!
i get food on prescribtion, my gps can be a bit differecult with it but i just put my foot down, so i get wabourtons cobs, flour, pizza bases, pasta and crackers all for free!!!! have to look on the bright side of life!!!!
once you get to know what you can and cant eat it becomes easier and packaging is alot clearer!! i sometimes dream about eating bread but generally i would rather have better health and eat bread!
do you have any pain or anything if you eat gluten???
if you have any questions or just want to general chat drop me a message!!
