My son has yet another clinic appointment on Monday - I await this one with interest. They are 4 weekly at present.
Since his last clinic appointment (HbA1c 11.0 at that point down from 12.3 a month earlier) he has not tested ONCE, and on top of that is not following the regime he is meant to be on - 38u Humilin M3 at breakfast, 16u Humilin S after school and 32u Lantus at bedtime. He does seem to have the M3 most days, though when it runs out he seems to 'forget' to get a new cartridge for a couple of days, the same with the Lantus, when a pen runs out he can't be bothered it seems to start a new one for a few days. He last had Lantus Monday evening and hasn't yet replaced that pen. He hasn't used Humilin S in ages (though has had occasional doses of Novorapid) so at best, has 2 injections a day, just very occasionally 3, and quite often just 1. This past 3 days he has only had the M3 at breakfast, nothing else at all. I can't quite work out how he is still standing, let alone functioning. He does have a big worrying spot/boil on his chin this morning - worrying him I mean - and says his lip feels a bit numb. I nearly mentioned testing his BG level and sying it is probably related, but knew if I did he would sound off at me, so resisted the urge.
I have emailed his DSN with all this information at the beginning of this week but have had no response from her, so wonder if she is on holiday.
My husband will be taking my son on Monday, he never lets us into the consultation anyway, so will have to wait to see what he either selectively tells us or what comes in the following letter, but again I can't see him HbA1c improving with the current situation.
Grrrrr! I really don't know when this is going to end. I have completely stepped back as I said I would and our relationship is so much better, but then this is the upshot, he is not complying. It really is so frustrating, but I really don't see what I can do. I am just waiting for the hospital to come up with a magic solution! Oh well, dream on!
