No you don't 🙂

nope your good to go 🙂

I was told by my nurse that as long as you weren't taking medication you were okay but as soon as you go on them you have to inform the DVLA.

Are you following the links? on the DVLA website itself on the link I provided it says:
Bus, coach or lorry licence
You must tell DVLA if your diabetes is treated by tablets or non-insulin injections. You must fill in:

  • form VDIAB1SG if your diabetes is treated by sulphonylurea or glinide tablets
  • form VDIAB1GEN if your diabetes is treated by any other tablets or non-insulin injections
VDIAB1GEN is the form Sue has put up the link.
So lorry drivers do have to report their diabetes.

So which one is metformin?

The gov website does not mention Hypo's! but to emphasise : you should fill in form VDIAB1GEN if your diabetes is treated by ANY OTHER TABLETS or non-insulin injections.

Have we not got any lorry drivers on here?

The rule supplies if you are driving commercially. You can then apply to continue, I believe a medical is required. I drive 7.5 and did not need to notify because it was non commercial. Now I am on insulin so do need to notify

I have driven 7.5 ton hire vans in the past. Hire companies want to know everything. Good luck.
