anyone seen similar research to this?

"CONCLUSIONS?The results of this study demonstrate that intake of 1, 3, or 6 g of cinnamon per day reduces serum glucose, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol in people with type 2 diabetes and suggest that the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases."

if this is true then what can I eat with cinnamon in (besides Indian food). everything that I look at is cake or bread or biscuit :( what do you suppose it goes well with that we can eat?

I'll be trying to find a suitable pancake recipe and add the cinnamon to that. but what else can I eat?

6g cinnamon sounds like a lot to me 😱

Macast,

I sprinkel cinnamon over my porridge (when I have it)!!

Also add cinnamon to minced lamb or minced beef. Sometimes when I toast pumpkin almond slithers and sunflower seeds, I add them as a topping to Greek yoghurt and sprinkle some cinnamon to that too.

Donna 🙂

do you think it is making any difference to your BG and cholesterol levels?

I have a pal who's a Type 2 and swears by it. He's off the drugs and eats what he pleases but has a couple of cinnamon capsules every day, sprinkles it on his coffee and desserts and so on. He only tests about once a week but he's never over 7, he is convinced it's because of the cinnamon. You can get the capsules from health food shops or Holland & Barrett. You can get herbal teas with cinnamon in, but watch them because there's often added sugar in them too.

I do a Morrocan lamb (or chicken) thing with cinnamon in it, though I leave out the dried apricots these days, it's great with cous-cous. I'll see if I can find the recipe.

Macast, I didn't really notice any great difference, but if it's doing you good, why not?

Alison, how to you do with cous-cous? I love it, but haven't tried it since diagnosis. I spike with dried apricots.

Donna 🙂

thanks Alison... I'll try and get the capsules... but I live a bit out of the way in a village. perhaps I'll find them online 🙂

oooh the recipe for Morrocan Lamb/chicken would be great thanks. I found one but it had dates and apricots in..... both would make me have a mega spike ..... does it go well with Quinoa??? as I heard that it was brilliant instead of rice. I have a lovely recipe I use it in but it has sweet potato and beetroot in it..... so I'll have to test before and after I make it next time

Quinoa? I've never tried it, but I imagine it might.

I used cinnamon for a while and it did make a difference, but I'm not that good at remembering to take pils, and so as it did make a difference I stopeed as it was messing me up!

Don't really know if they do anything but you can get cinnamon capsules here: http://www.revital.co.uk 100 500mg capsules for ?12.15.

Notice the date of 2003 on that paper. Anderson, as far as I know, is the only reputable researcher outside the sub-continent to try to replicate this research. I'd be interested if someone can provide cites to others.

Cinnamon may have benefits, but I certainly do not buy capsules of the stuff. Instead I include cinnamon or cassia in my daily menu in various ways. I do the same with many other herbs and spices.

I wrote more on that here a few years back: Cinnamon, Spices, Herbs and Similar.

No worries; it's all there for free on the blog; just needs a little persistence mate 🙂

The book is intended for those who aren't really into using the web.
