There are lots of different statins but 80mg is quite a high dose so an alternative may be better. However many find that a low carb diet reduces their cholesterol. What is your diet like?

It could be better tbh. I do enjoy bread and pasta because they fill me at lunchtimes. Any healthy filling lunch ideas welcomed.xx

I’m currently only eating 2 meals a day as been off work
but under more normal circumstances would also eat lunch, usually lunch would be a home made batch prepared fresh veg soup,
that gets frozen so when I’m working take 1 portion out the freezer (the night before so it defrosts overnight) zapped in microwave & goes in a flask to keep in car until lunch time
in warmer weather a freshly made before leaving home chopped mixed salad with added grains nuts and seeds, this also goes in a flask to keep cool,
each day I also take with me apple or pear sometimes a few strawberries incase I want to snack, whilst out and about during the day, and usually have a pickled egg and a few mini cucumbers as a snack with me

Ah, cholestrol, a favourite topic. I was put on low mg of atovastatin and while it did a great job of lowering my cholestrol it played havoc with my liver enzymes. I was told to stop taking it. As I do want to reduce my cholestrol but am not having another statin, I was offered a cholestrol lowering drug called Ezitimbe. This is usually taken with a Statin, I decided to see what might happen with Ezitimbe on its own. My results came through, all my lipid markers fell into the green normal zone. I am continuing with Ezitimbe but also like diabetes I need to keep an eye on my diet.

Good luck.

Another vote for Ezetimibe on its own here, x 2 because my husband (nowhere near diabetes, aged 77 and last HbA1c test last year, 39) they asked him to take a statin once his AAA reached an operative size, which was hardly surprising all in all - he asked if he could take anything else and the cardiology consultant said 'I suppose you could try Ezetimibe but I doubt whether that will be enough' - but Oh what a surprise - it was and is, enough - so he had his operation and got over it OK.

I was more astonished (and still am) at the GP who didn't try and discuss taking Ezetimibe with the statin, but was ok with it on its own and wait to see what happens.
