I'm thinking of having chicken chow mein tonight and depending on how much I want I will be weighing mine out but....the picture in carbs and cals shows beef chow mein and it looks as though there are vegetables in it and me being me I will be taking most of the vegetables out before weighing it. Will this cause a problem with using the beef chow mein on carbs and cals for my weighing and carb amount?
Well it will affect the weight, why not weigh it before you take the vegetables out then hopefully it will be more accurate. The vegetables are unlikely to add much to the carb count, the sauce will be the biggest thing probably.

Actually I can’t remember what chow mein is, is it noodles? They will obviously be carbs! The meat and veg will make little difference but you do need the weight to be roughly equal to what you are eating in order for the carbs count to be close enough

Our Chinese uses very fine noodles in its chow mien, it is what I order (house special with chicken, char sui pork, prawn and beef - but I give the beef to my son), eat those, then the veggies and bean sprouts, by the time I hit the noodles I'm all but full. It is son's birthday today so Chinese might well be on the menu tonight, thankfully it doesn't give me too high a spike. 🙂
