Cheap hypo remedy

Both Sainsbury's and Tesco also do their own version of Lucozade too, which are about half the price, only available in six packs. I find liquid gets there fastest for my hypos although I think I only use about 10-12b carbs (measured the exact amount once so I know how much I need)
I didn't realise Lucozade had caffeine, I even use it overnight and it doesn't affect my sleep!

I was in town today so had a look for these in ASDA but couldn't find anything like you describe :( Which section are they sold in and what are they called?

They are usually in the aisle with the tinned fruit and jams and things.
I buy the apple ones for Fiona. Last Saturday I bought 18 (6 for ?2), as our local small ASDA stopped selling them and we don't go to the big one very often.

They are called: Apple (Raspberry, etc.) Squeezy Fruit Pouch

Thanks Monica, I probably didn't look hard enough in that section - will look out for them should the occasion present itself again! 🙂

I know you might not like this but five Hypos in one day you are injecting far too much insulin.

Oh, I know this. Five hypos is unusual for me, but not entirely unheard of. Usually I'll have two or three a week now.

I'm very insulin-sensitive, so I'm on low basal rates and low insulin:carb ratios. Some days my activity levels are quite hard to predict, and even after twenty-plus years with the condition, it's still difficult to think, right, I'm going to hang the washing out now, then check the car over -- wait, I'd better eat something first... because I'm not hungry before the activity, only afterwards. 🙄

As a matter of interest what have you got your duration of insulin set at?

I always use Glucotabs - I buy them in bulk off Amazon in large tubs and then reuse the smaller pocket tub. Much better than the standard Dextro tabs as you can keep them in a hard plastic tube in your pocket, rather than the paper. I always find with the paper-wrapped tabs, they always somehow get dirt on them and you get dusty pocket.

Thanks, Monica, for directing Northerner to right section of ASDA! I'm only juts back home and able to access internet. The range used to be larger, with dairy and jelly versions, but now they only sell fruit purees, which are the nicest anyway. I have mentioned them before on these forums, but finally seem to be getting some interest 🙂

Some excellent tips here great things to try, I am loosing some weight & am finding hypos more frequent.
I used to keep all sort in my bag for hypos, but I have arthritis in my neck so have to carry a smaller bag, Lucozade is too big & I hate the flavour.
Thank You.

Hi Multicat - hypo remedies are part of the story, but if you are losing weight, then you also need to gradually decrease your insulin doses, otherwise you'll be taking on extra calories, which slows the process of losing weight.
