I've written about Charcot Foot, a destructive neuropathic complication of diabetes. It is a rare complication so there's not that much written about it from a personal perspective. If you ever get a warm/ hot swollen foot without any obvious trauma please get it checked out urgently by an HCP and make sure to get Charcot Foot ruled out rather than overlooked. Early diagnosis and protection of the foot is absolutely vital to try and get the best outcome.

Fantastic explanation of a terrible condition. I must say you appear to manage very well but I would imagine you have bad days like us all. As @grovesy said well done for highlighting this to us.

I said Thankyou, widest explanation of it I've ever seen and it's certainly increased my knowledge! last night but obviously didn't click 'Post'.

Well done Flower, takes a lot of bottle to lay yourself bare as an example of the damage that this condition can do.

Beware of giving too much away, (like where you live, or a first name) the DWP spies search Facebook and blogs to add fuel to switching off benefits.

Thank you for sharing, Flower. Its a sobering account. I hope it helps you in some way to have written it and I am certain it will help others. It has made me more aware of the importance of taking swift action in such a situation.

Ive added a new section to the ‘useful links’ @Flower which deals with complications and screening services.

I will try to build the section up over time 🙂

Great blog Flower, Podiatrist/Consultants will be jumping for joy all over the world. xx

Thank you for sharing your story @Flower I never knew much about Charcot foot.
