I have been succesfully controlling my BG levels with diet and exercise, I don't test as often as I did at first but I do sample a few times a week just for peace of mind and look out for any changes... everything has been pretty well within guidlines, after meals 6.5 to 7 sort of levels but recently I have noticed that my BG levels have dropped quite consistently lower... after breakfast this morning down to 4.7, my waking up level which was often my highest at around 7 has been 5.5 and 5.8 ish over last few days. When I tried to discuss my tested levels with my local surgery I was told as usual that I don't need to test myself more than a couple of times a week as if I was doing it too much and "worrying" myself uneccesarily.

Now I thought I have been very grown up and managing well since being diagnosed in May/June so now I am having a slight coping "wobble" and not sure if I should worry that my BG levels seem to have dropped down a gear. I had an episode of feeling feint at the week-end and did a spot check on my BG at that time and it was completely ordinary at 5.7 odd. The only thing different I can think of recently is that I had my flu jab last Thursday. I suppose I should be pleased of course, perhaps it is because I have lost weight and that is now settling in to longer term benefit.... but without a reason for it I am having a bit of a fret 🙂

I should be getting the result of my first hba1c test this week so I guess I should ask again but I do feel as if I am being sent to the naughty step for testing myself contrary to some official view of my testing needs....

You're well within tolerance, in fact those numbers are just great. I reckon you should be congratulating yourself. Well done from me for getting there.

No need to fret over those excellent figures - it looks like your hard work has really paid off and now your body is able to happily cope with your diet in much the same way as a person without diabetes would - as Alison says, congratulate yourself! 🙂 It's easy to blame diabetes for other symptoms we are feeling - it's usually the frst port of call for most of us! - but your levels are nicely in range so I would suspect some other reason for any light-headedness etc. Well done! 🙂

Thank you, I will focus on the sense of achievement, especially as the shops are now filling with Christmas temptations... friends were already munching mince pies this week-end !!! No, I will steer clear and find other delicious and safer treats this year.

Hi gruffybear i am normally very active but a few year ago i was going through a not much work patch & couldnt belive how low bgs were under strees of not working ! Give yourself a pat on the back & try to relax (Stress!) Good luck 🙂

You sound like you are doing brilliantly to me! Pat on the back for sure.
