Just back from DSN visit at hospital. I said that Humulin M3 was not working well for me but I would just get on with if I had to. So Bill the DSN said no I would not need to just get on with it due to the risks involved with high BG and understood when I said I had lost my brother to kidney failure and I was scared of going down same road, kidney failure is horrible thing. So here I am going onto Novorapid and Lantus, a CGM is being ordered for me and I will go on a course for that and also a carb counting course. In reality this will make me more determined to win the D fight. I can here my late brother whispering in my ear "get it together, do it for me"

So pleased you have had support from your DSN and he has started you on a basal/bolus insulin system. Lantus is your Basal insulin which deals with the glucose your liver releases day and night and NovoRapid is your Bolus or meal time insulin.
There is a lot to learn but this system will give you much more flexibility to manage your diabetes well and eat what and when you like to a large extent, rather than being restricted to eating at set times of the day and having no means of covering a snack or a special celebratory meal etc or to skip meals as and when you feel like it. Please ask here on the forum if you have any queries and we will do our best to explain things. Great that you are getting Libre although only right if you are LADA and should have had it straight away. Also good to hear you are getting a carb counting course, although you can learn a lot yourself beforehand which I thinks help you get the most out of the course.
