Well my change this morning of my breakfast time insulin:carb ratio from 1:10 to 1:8 certainly hasn't worked today and I've had to do 2 corrections for bgls over 10mmol so far today which is bad

14:01pm 12.1!! 74g of carbs for my lunch - 7.5u food - 2u correction - 1:3mmol correction factor - 1:8 insulin to carb ratio at breakfast time
9:25am breakfast 10.4 - 36g of carbs for breakfast - 4.5u food - 1.5u correction -

If this is your first day with the change of ratio at breakfast i would wait a few days using that ratio before making any other change. It could be something else today thats caused the raise eg heat, feeling unwell etc. There are so many things tham can affect it. Give it a few days before making any other changes

Yes it's my first day and I will definitely wait a few days before any more changes. Thanks for thinking of other things which might cause the raise - I can rule our feeling unwell 🙂

Today 14:00pm - 16.6 - 36g of carbs for lunch 3.5u food and 3u correction
9:00am 9.4 breakfast
7:03am 4.6 waking

Remember BG levels can go haywire before we ourselves actually show any signs of being unwell, have you considered switching the time you take your Tresiba at? Like take it in the evening rather than the morning? xx

I take mine in the evening

It definitely looks like the pattern of your basal needs has changed with you now going high through the day. Our basal needs don't always stay the same and mine are constantly changing which is why Levemir suits me so well, so don't think that it is anything you are doing wrong, it is just the nature of diabetes.

It is certainly a good suggestion that just a change in when you take the Tresiba might make a difference and sort the problem or it may be that a change of basal insulin would suit your needs better or that the upheaval that either of those options would cause you would be counter productive and that continuing with the Tresiba dose in the morning and making regular corrections through the day is the best policy for you, or possibly altering that morning ratio again in a few days if things continue to rise. Quite a few possible strategies to deal with it but just see how it goes for the next few days with things the way they are and don't worry about it. If I remember rightly, you are going away again so enjoy yourself and just follow the advice the bolus advisor gives you and then look at the results when you get back and make a decision then.

I'm going away on holiday tomorrow until Tuesday so probably best to wait until I'm back

Like @freesia I take mine in the evening, not long before 10pm for me xx

Was it mid-morning highs you were hoping to fix @mum2westiesGill ?

Are you waking a bit on the high side, but not correcting as it’s not over 10?

Are you tempted to experiment with temporarily allowing yoirself to give corrections at breakfast, even if not above 10?
Do you mean to go with the correction the bolus advisor is suggesting?

Just at breakfast. Because lunchtime readings are consistently higher than you would like.

Yes, and you are waiting to see if that offers any benefit. Which it hasn’t so far. So possibly considering adding a correction as suggested by the bolus adviser on top of that ratio change might be worth considering?
