We have today replaced daughter’s Dexcom sensor for the first time, and are just getting readings after waiting for the 2 hour start up time. We thought one hour initialisation on the Libre was a bit annoying!

Does anybody know what these sensors are actually doing during the start up period? Or are they just allowing time for the filament to bed into your skin? I'm curious!

I think it is acclimatising and ‘bedding in‘ @Sally71

I heard from the t slim FB group someone mentioning something about ‘trauma checks’ for where the filament has been plunged in... but I have to say that G6 seems to be the least painful of all sensor insertions I’ve experienced.

And whatever happens in that 2 hours seems to work for me! I am consistently getting very usable data.

As part of my self-funding I am restarting my sensors... and currently that seems to require 2 start up times one after another 😱😱😱

How do you restart them?

It seems to depend slightly on which version of transmitter you have.

I follow the instructions here

I keep a close eye after the restart (since the values need to be reliable enough for control iq), but i am getting 20 days of good reliable data so far on the ones I've tried. 🙂
